Unfortunately, this evening I had my first car accident in a very long time.
It involved me having to put the wedge up a grass bank, with predictable results. weeping

Thankfully, not much damage was done. I will however, need a new front spoiler, as it was utterly trashed.

I don't suppose anyone has a spare knocking around do they?
I know I can get one from TET moldings, but I'm on a very tight budget, and just wondered if anyone had a spare kicking around I could maybe have for a reasonable price?

I'm gutted. Two years' work and then two weeks on the road and I have to fix her again.
Ah well, it's only money! rolleyes

Utterly and totally mashed. Biggest recognisable parts of it are the bits which still have the driving lights attached. It's utterly mashed.

An abandoned overtake went really wrong. Rear tyres seemed to lock prematurely and it sent the car into a massive tank-slapper.

The car coming the other way, which caused me to abandon the overtake, stopped to see if I was OK.
He said he was amazed I managed to keep it under the control I did.

Could have been much, more worse. Looks like it's going to cost me a new tyre (irritated as they're a week old!) and a new spoiler - plus some fiberglass to repair the bumper mounts.

Bit odd if it drove normally afterwards: I'd say either you went down a gear too many; you spun the rears up from the torque or you hit the brake pedal with the edge of your clutch foot.
I did exactly the latter on Croft circuit a few years back; decided to change down going into a bend, hit the brake as I pressed the clutch and it sent the car into a massive 80mph sideways slide that turned into a graceful 180 spin and dumped me on the infield grass. I had plenty of time to look out the side window at the two enormous pairs of eyes in the car (an S series) following me as he stood on the brakes to avoid T-boning me!

Did you re-fit the brake biased valve?..And if you did was it level?..I had the rears lock up on a damp motorway at 70 as i had to brake a bit heavy..Scared the shyte out of me as the back started to flip round as there was a 40 ton lorry right next to me..All i could see was the gap between the front and rear wheels..eek..I really thought that was my lot!..My master cylinder has been changed but im not convinced that was causing it?....Hopefully someone will have one knocking about and you will have it back to its former glory..Maybe a bit less enthusiasm until you are really used to the car..Even a 280i can catch your unawares!..Glad that it wasnt any worse..Take care...Ziga

Hey chaps.

Basically, it was an aborted overtaking maneuver.
Dropped a cog down to overtake and as I pulled out, it was obvious there wasn't room to attempt the overtake.
I pulled back in, and slowly applied the brakes hard. As I was applying the brakes, and the weight came off the rears, they locked suddenly sending the car into a massive tank-slapper I was lucky to hold on to.

Had a look at the car with the old man this evening.
I suspected the rear suspension alignment was off, but with the rear bumper off it's obvious it's WAY out.
I'm showing 2.5 degrees camber on one side!

What's probably happened is that as the weight has come off the rear wheels, the wheels have tucked under.
Coupled to the LSD, they've locked up.

Long story short, I'm going to start work on the car tomorrow night, and it's not going back on the road until it's sorted.

Hey Zig, thanks for that.

Yeah, I did look on TET Moulding's site, but I just can't stretch to £135 right now. I'm very tight for cash!

Was hoping to find a 2nd hand splitter that I could just give a quick blow over with some rattle cans tbh.

Going to try Bell Hill and Douglas Valley again today and see if they have anything.
What a bugger!

Hi mate I need one myself, but think I'm gonna wait till I get the whole car sorted.
There is a big scrap yard in near Chorley down the road from me, he has a few wedges at the moment.
I've taken a pic of his details from eBay hope this helps.

He does have a bit of a laugh with his prices though... wedge steering column, wheel obviously knackered, pictured shoved up the exhaust of a wreck, £75 IIRC rolleyes
Wouldn't inspire me to buy that safety-critical item from him...

Ha... I kinda know what ya mean.
l I've been down for a look in the past,
He had a ludicrous amount of exotic write offs, he's a major buyer if Porsche Ferrari Lamborghini etc.
To sell the parts.. I went to see what seats he had. But pricey on those as well.
Ended up getting mine for about half the price. Elsewhere.

Hey guys!

Beacon managed to sort me out with a replacement spoiler, which arrived yesterday.
Can't thank him enough for pulling out the stops to sort this out for me.
Thanks very much mate!

I sprayed it up today, and am just waiting for it to harden overnight before fitting it tomorrow morning.

Rear bumper is now refitted, suspension all re-aligned and adjusted.

I'll put some pics up when she's back together. First proper long run out tomorrow driving

Finished it at about 11:30PM on Sunday.

Went out for a hoon in the car, now properly set up, and got an adrenaline rush I've never had before in my life biggrin

Here's a picture of Pandora at the show on Monday:

If it wasn't for the previous owner parking bump on the front bumper, she'd look almost factory fresh in this picture biggrin

Once again, thanks a lot mate. The drive out yesterday was absolutely incredible, thanks for helping make that happen wink
