Got a nasty tear in my near side one frown
Should be fitting a temp replacement (until i source the correct one) over the weekend. Question is tho which grease to use as lubricant, copper or plain?

I always use plain.

Copper slip is ever so mildly abrasivee

"Copperslip" is not a lubricant it is an anti-sieze compound so not intended for parts that will be moving against each other, in fact, just the opposite...parts that don't move and therefore sieze together!

imho wink

The original type are made of rubber and seem to perish/tear/split quite quickly.

I have one to replace on mine and will be using a Bailcast one, made of 'stretchy rubber'- neoprene rubber - which will last much, much longer and is resistant to all the above problems. They also make CV boots and I have never had one fail on any car I have fitted them to and that is a lot now.

Unipart automotive and similar sell these.

No bother Dix, the post office were meant to deliver it today. Didnt arrivefrown
So i packed the old one in grease and retied it, it'll do over the weekend.
While i was at i covered the steering UJs in grease, they were as dry as a bone, took it for a wee spin, might be my imagination but the steering felt noticeably lighter and responsive.
