I have a fairly bad pull on the steering to the left. I have tried the usual suspects such as a brake calliper sticking and had the alignment checked but to no avail. Was reading in the Wedge Bible that misaligning the steering UJ coupling when replacing could cause a pull...I thought this would just result in the steering wheel being off centre. Anyone any thoughts or ideas?

I would agree, especially if you have worked on it. The joint could also partially seize which would give a feeling of tightening when turning the steering wheel. Also the bearing mount would be worth checking.
Best of luck.

Could do with a little more info... Does the car pull to one side under braking or is it all the time? Was it OK before you worked on the steering and what work was done? There are quite a few possibilities... some more info would help narrow things down.
Cheers Steve

Are the tyres wearing evenly? I had similar symptoms coupled with one tyre wearing excessively around one edge and it proved to be the lower suspension arm inboard pivot bush having disintegrated.

It's pulling all the time and I haven't worked on the steering....just got the car around a month ago. Front tyres are new so can't see a wear pattern forming.

What was checked on the alignment check? Are all brakes free (front and rear)? Tyre pressures? Although would have to be a long way out to pull.

Did they check the castor angle?
I have found that a slight change to castor angle makes a significant difference to the steering wheel pull.

Castor/camber have still to be checked but the stiffness in the steering when turning right makes me think he problem may be elsewhere. Everything else like brakes, tyre pressures etc are fine.

I've also found that castor can have a huge effect of the type you describe.

It was castor after all!
