I have found a break in the seat just beside the recliner handle. Frame which looks like tubular has broken. Can this be welded. How hard to remove seat to enable this to get done if it is do able.
Thanks

It's not that uncommon - my 350 drivers seat went exactly there. The seat is only bolted through the floor (yes really) with 4 bolts, but these will probably be rusted to hell, so you might as well cut them and replace with new stainless.

The passenger seat is considerably more difficult. Drivers is a doddle.

Why do you say that, Jeff? The seats are mirror-images.

Mine did that. One of the reasons I tried a MX-5 seat. Need to get it fixed and recovered. Grady

Instead of welding and setting fire to the seat what about inserting a pipe inside the tube and then sliding it back across the break, then drilling through both and putting a bolt through to hold it in place? It's not like it's structural.

Tried the drill and pin should have worked but hole drilled at angle. looked ok but as soon as bolted back in car and sat on let go. Seat back out 5 minutes! now welded and back in feels fine.
Had a fire blanket at work a kitchen one, used it worked a treat and kept the sparks and welding off everything so hopefully weld should be successful
