Last night I was reading “TVR-A Passion to Succeed” by Peter Filby and it mentions in there that Martin Lilley was offered and considered the Fiat twin cam for the Tasmin 200.

How good would that have been? One of those on twin 40’s would sound great and probably be a fair bit lighter than the old Pinto. I think the 200 would have been much more successful. Certainly it would now be desirable rather than spoken about like the runt of the litter!

Would of probably looked a lot better in the engine dept also..I reckon they also looked at a small blocks before they went with the colognes...That would of been something but then would they of gone backwards and built a 3.5?...Its nice to ponder...Cheers..Ziga

Pinto is very much under-rated. Easy potential for more bhp than Cologne or RV8, but it's still a four cylinder, so no "V" rumble. Zig, does your sound like this yet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY5_T59MceY

I know the Pinto is a strong motor and can produce the power but out of the box a twin cam looks fab, sounds great and produces a fair bit more power than a Cortina motor!

Love that Scimitar by the way, where the hell do you find one of those engines? Are those the things they used to race with in RS3100 in the 70's?
