Well, when they eventually come along....they come in three's !!

Zig has just completed the trio of "high profile" wedgers throwing the Hissy.

First was Andy (Mr Tank)

followed by Rob (Carob)

.....and then his royal Zigler.

Previously several others have done so too........they know who they are !!

What on gods earth does owning a wedge do to a man eh ????

I know Zig and Andy relatively well enough.....they are ae right pair of oddballs .......like we all are.(But i like em both in person.
Sorry i can't speak for Rob as i have never met him.....but any mate of Dix's cant be the full ticket and has to be okay in equal measures.

When my brother joined the Triumph owners club in Denver Colorado and attended meets i asked him what they were like......." right bunch off Oddo's bruv....but they love the cars"

Wrote this just cos i could.

Hi Mate..I did warn you about using that fake tan shyte!...hehe

This is what i think it is...All the other cars that i have ever owned i never really loved as much as the wedge, There has been times when cars have let me down and i have literally kicked the door in through frustration, Albeit a bit stupid as i had to use the passenger door and slide across..I had an old classic BMW 520i which was in fairly good condition but the prop was failing and one day it just fell out while i was driving it..(Luckily from the rear) so i pushed it to the side of the road and sent off the log book to the address that i parked it outside of..I left the key in the glovebox..The crazy thing was i actually had a spare prop..Yesterday while i was getting the red mist i looked at the door..Then the windscreen..Then the door..Then the fuel lines..Walked away..Looked out the window at delilah and and said to myself..WTF am i thinking..At the end of the day she was running fine until i decided.."Please sir may i have some more"...(Oliver twisted) so i cant blame her for that one so it looks like i will have to bite yet another bullet but this time get it done properly..So as Rob say's..I will stay calm and carry on wedging..Cheers..Ziga

I am pretty sure we wouldn't have wedges if we were normal, we're all a bit loopy, its just that some are worse than others.

I must be pretty bad though, most people would have thrown a fit at their pride and joy spontaneously combusting, I just sort of shrugged and got on with looking for a replacement!

I reckon owning any TVR probably qualifies you as a bit mad.

Anyone who drives and loves their car, when that car is 30 or more, must understand that it becomes a pain for parts, reliability,.... etc...

I'm definitley a nutter, as I also built 4 kit cars, own 2 TVRs, and if I had the space, would probably get more. There's a few NZ classics here too worth thinking about.

Always fancied a Stag for some strange reason, and a Lotus Cortina, and ..(whole list deleted)...

At least the Wedge has relatively reliable engines, the Triumph V8 is a bottomless pit of heartache and frustration. Great looking car though, and the V8 sounds better than an RV8 <runs away>

Why do you think I said "for some strange reason" !!

I know that Triumph V8 engine was actually a total nightmare - if I had a Stag it would get a Rover V8 for reliability, original or not, or possibly a 2500 L6.

Did you know that a 2500 straight 6 is a BOLT FIT into the Stag ? The shell still has all the mount points/holes from the prototype, which had a 2000 engine in it, and it was based on a saloon body anyway

I've seen one done that way, a long time ago - owner said it was hardly any slower, and a LOT less hassle...

Yes, I want one because the Stag simply looks gorgeous, even TODAY, and it's convertible too.

I had the heating pipe uncouple itself this morning and spew brown water all over the place and I though what have I bought? Fixed it in ten minutes with a proper joiner rather than the bit of copper pipe that was there before so now the car is better off and I feel a little chuffed. Sad I know.
At least we get a thrill ride out on the open road and that wonderful, wonderful noise, what do Morris minor owners get in return for their efforts against woodworm and the like?

At least what they DON'T get is being accused of the TVR being a Triumph TR7 !!

(Stog - as a new member, just to explain this is an ongoing theme)

I was offered a very well looked after mgb gt for the same money as I paid for my wedge, I know it is reliable (it did LeMans and back with no problems) but they just dont do it for me, I would much rather have my unreliable, noisy, uneconomical, leaky TVR.

There was a grey wedge with, I think, 450 written on the side, at the TVRCC track day on Monday. Not sure what was under the bonnet (think he said ?4.8?), but it sure shifted for a 30 year old kit car with a Lancashiyer accent.
