Hi

A lot has been discussed about wedge wing mirrors in the past.

I have managed to source most of the components of the original mirrors apart from the small change over switch, (which I am still sourcing) and the glass.

If anybody want's a set of the working motors and the joy stick switch please get in contact!

Sean

I do have some, somewere but I have 8 garages full with various bits of wedge parts which I am slowly sorting out as well as trying to fit out my new house garage/workshop.
When I do find them I will post it up.

Not least that they weren't mounted on the wings, but on the doors... whistlewink

The control switches are ex-SAAB or Ford Granada.

Looking through a workshop that fitted alarms and after-market leccy window mechanisms to cars and the earlier wedge centre console switches were used, or rather the same type, five pin lucars? It was a few years ago mind.

Yeah, i 've got 5 pin lucas switches on the centre console for my leccy windows.
I just got the catologue car builder solutions (cbsonline). They have loads of stuff that might help with the mirrors or any other project. not used them yet, just got the catalogue yesterday but they look really useful.

Ian

The switches were in fact used on various cars mainly BL cars early Range Rovers in particular..
Yes the mirrors are fitted on the doors but use of the term wing mirror is just a standard wording!

Hi Matt

I still have new nearside rear lights but have run out of the offside. I am still looking for some to make up full sets but so far all my contacts on the continent have not found any more!

So if you want the nearside no problem!

If you want a set of mirror motors and the joystick switch I can help!

I do need a near side one! I'll check the other...only worry is they have probably faded so would be best to swp in pairs.

Cheers

Hi any luck in sourcing or at least finding where the glass came from for a S2 350i wing mirror? As not sure which but my motors (think motors, they make a noise just don't do anything) or switch don't work, so fool that I am I tried a bit of manual persuasion and now have a cracked mirror frown

Hi Colin

The mirror glass on all wedges are the same, unless another make of door/wing mirror have been fitted. They were originally a very early Range Rover item, and I have never found any spare glass.

I just take an old example to my local glass mirror shop and they cut them to size.

my passenger side used to whirr but not move the glass, i took the mechanism out and cleaned/lubed and it started working fine - doesn't really help the broken mirror glass issue though...

Make sure the mirror glass is not made too big otherwise it'll catch on the pod, better to be millimetre or so under sized, the mirrors are Saab 9000 and available from an eBay shop selling Saab stuff.

Some 1980s small hatch had nigh-on the right size and shape mirror glass but I'll be sugared if I can remember which one... Peugeot 205, Talbot Samba, Fiat Panda, that sort of thing.

ETA funnily enough I've just been sneaking a look at a new-shape Panda outside my local takeway (I hang around hoping for scraps on a Friday night at closing time, surely we've all done it? whistle) and the mirrors on that looked to be similarly postage-stamp sized and of about the right shape as those on a Wedge.
