I would like to the raise the issue of certain comments being removed from this forum following the supposed return of an unnamed individual with a fleet of TVRs at his disposal.

Given that this person has taken me to task openly on this forum - comments of which were not removed I hasten to add but allowed to offend a large majority of contributors all the same over the manner in which I choose to own and run my TVR/s one of which he currently owns. It is a sad indictment of our times when there is no opportunity to respond in kind. Not only that, but there have been others offended by this person's behaviour and attitude elsewhere on this forum and outside its wordy confines. Nevertheless, I've been on this forum for a good few years now and have benefitted from the advice, laughed at the witty banter as well as drawing inspiration from some of those restoring and running their cars. My only regret to date however, is not having turned up at a Wedge event which I will be doing so once my car is back on the road in a number of weeks regardless if I'm happy with how it looks or not!

However, my view is that if a person chooses to slant another for whatever reason then the forum should be what forum's are about which is to Debate, Promote and Defend one's own beliefs. If an individual wants to pass on a comment barbed with Arogance, Spitefulness and complete Stupidity then allow it so that the appropriate response/s can be made in the same manner a person would if these comments were complimentary and supportive - not remove them for fear of offence which has been the fate by a number of us so far.

There are benefits in having an open arena on here but there are negatives too if our feelings were blocked and backed up by a stupid email which then has the effect of supporting the person who has single handedly offended many without being open to the appropriate response he or anyone else deserves irresepctive of who they think they really are or what they think they own...

A VERY good point....As is in the house's of parliment that run and manage our country there are outrageous conversations, Shouting, Laughing at opposition proposal's..Jeering a difference of opinion between two parties and generally showing disregard of their status/position...However it is governed by the "Majority rule" which is defined by us..The people of this nation and if we all chose to implement the use of drugs..To be armed..To have low petrol prices..Good quality food only at affordable prices..And putting our own people first when it comes to NHS, Housing and jobs then it would have to be enforced.

I for one have been subjected to bad critisism and slaggings off of the things i do to MY car which I paid for, I also insure and tax my car each year and therefore feel i should have the freedom to express my displeasure as such critisism's where my pride and joy is called a pimped up pile of shyte!...It has been noticed by all not just me.

Unfortunately certain people take it upon themselves to take it another level by sending out personal emails to newcomers on the forum suggesting that certain people are a waste of space, This is appalling behaviour and should be made public as we all try to help each other and this is NOT helping anyone!.

I appeal to the mods to not remove this post as the tension needs to be let off as there is NO other alternative medium to do so and if it is capped off then the pressure will evidently escalate.

Of course there should be no naming and shaming but how long do people have to put up with bitter and twisted individuals that are spoiling it for everyone else?..Thank you..Ziga

I concur. An open forum, is just that, open. I don't want thought police or gestapo, moderating my thoughts so as not to offend offenders.

Zig - if you have evidence of the emails then the person who sent them might want to consider their actions carefully:

[i] Malicious communications

...Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003 provides for two further offences, very similar to that under the 1988 Act.

First, a person is guilty of an offence if he sends by means of a public electronic communications network a message or other matter that is grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character, or causes any such message or matter to be so sent.

Second, a person is guilty of an offence if, for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to another, he: (a) sends by means of a public electronic communications network, a message that he knows to be false, (b) causes such a message to be sent; or (c) persistently makes use of a public electronic communications network.

Punishment under the 1988 Act or the 2003 Act may, again, be by way of a fine and/or imprisonment.

Guys I totally agree and remember this is not the only forum that this nonsense has occurred on! That aside some of us who have been on here for many years, are trying to set up a group to look at the next Fest, its this sort of thing that undermines peoples appetite to spend the time and effort to do it. So for those that need to, take your toys and attitudes elsewhere so the "silent minority" can crack on!

Why not copy and paste the offending emails into this forum and let us see what has been said?

Hi Mate..I think enough damage has been done, But if there is any more mallice towards me or anybody else who is happy working on their wedge in their own fashion then the gates of hell will be opened!

In the last three years of being on this forum i have made numerous new friends, I have received encouragement and advice in all shapes and sizes and have endeavoured to return the favour by..

1. Creating a wedge calendar that feature's every one of you at some point.
2. Doing my bit for deserving charities.
3. Bringing a bit of a laugh to the forum, Even to some people's distaste.(Sorry for that).
4. Helping any other wedger in any way i can, Whether it be looking for parts, Mechanical advice or even to help them find a good wedge by researching whats out there.
5. Returning the encouragement when they feel down and are on the selling the wedge edge.
6. Setting up meets or helping at events in any way i can.
7. Generally just being myself and trying to spread a good vibe out to everyone.

Im not in this for appraisal or popularity in accordance with anything i do..Im what it say's on the tin and have no underlying agenda or immoral purpose to my actions.

When i received the wedge personality award i was truly touched and felt honoured to recieve such an award even though it was suggested that it was not correctly awarded and was only given due to a last minute decision.

I know some people may think that im after something or not what i seem but that is their misconception which is in their head, There is nothing i can do about that except defend myself when they attack.

Its a real shame that there are people like this as after meeting all of you who have attended the Wedgefest and BNG and all the smaller events i can put my hand on my heart and say.."What a cool bunch of dudes you are"..My only regret is that i never got into TVR's a bit earlier..Cheers..Ziga

I can see where you are coming from BUT I dont think that would be very helpful, there have been a lot of things said and done on and off the forum that dont show some people in a very good light and raking it all up again will only cause more problems IMO.
I have met some really good people through this forum, had some good advice and had the piss taken unmercifully, unfortunately you always get some differences of opinion in a group like this especially when you get someone with a very forceful personality and strong opinions and I think that just letting this all settle down on its own is the best idea

It's a shame when enthusiasts end up sniping at each other, no-one benefits but everyone loses. Seems to be an absolute requirement for this to occur with any group of people with common interests: cars, bikes, 19th century German printing presses.

Don't know where that impression came from Mark mate as I was the vote counter
and you were so overwhelmingly the winner it was embarrassing!!!!

Certain people did however decline to enter simply because they knew the vote
was a foregone conclusion in your favour

You are, and always will be, the 1st ever rightfully voted Wedge Personality of the Year Mark

Cheers

I personally have not received any nasty emails from any of this forum's contributors, and agree with the above comments.

My opinion, for what it's worth.

The forum is not a place for insults or put downs, but for helping any wedgers who ask, and for lively discussions on related topics. Opinions CAN be expressed without nasty or insulting overtones, there's nothing wrong with saying "I don't agree because", but there is with something like "You're an idiot for thinking that way".

There IS space however for what is probably best called BANTER, which should be humourous, where it is possible to 'insult' someone in a joke. PLEASE however this should be made clear with a smiley or similar trick.

We should remember that we all have different writing styles, and an insult may be taken by a reader which was not intended by a contributor, so check what you write !

As I am on the other side of the globe to most of you, I really like reading and adding to the forum, I think this is a great place !!

[ Actually I think the way parliaments behave, UK, NZ, OZ, US (equiv) can be amazingly childish, stupid and insulting, and shouldn't happen that way. Protest can be firm and polite ]

Quite right, and we have got to this point because some people can't tell the difference between the two things, not helped by sometimes it's not clear cut which is which.

So the aggro level has got ratcheted up and the "click" on the torque wrench didn't go off. Not even at 220 lbf.

It would do everyone a great service to call a truce on this matter right now, PM each other if necessary. You know what needs to be done.

Taken from the terms of the forum:

When using this website you agree not to:

Use threatening or defamatory words, pictures or any other content which could upset, annoy, or cause embarrassment.
Deliberately provoke arguments or reignite arguments that have ceased.
Use the forums to harass other members – including the use of private information or pictures from social media – without permission.
Post any copyright-protected material without permission. If in doubt, don’t post it.

The original debates were unfortunate and just escalated, I agree an open forum is an open forum but the owners want free exchange without offence. This thread is just dragging up old ground and is also not in the spirit of the above points.

Is it not time to drop, forget and move on?
