Have you ever seen this?

It is a 1985 wedge V6 2.8 FHC+2 originaly equiped with L-jetronic (no K-jetronic)
I found the first owner (Germany) of the car and he confirmed that the engine is factory fitted.

According the German documents it has only 140HP (the cossie 2.9 v24 is ready to go in)

No, but I can confirm the engine block and heads are no different from the 'K' versions made in 1985, so it should be a bolt fit, more or less.

I see it looks like it has the TVR exhaust 'special' manifolds on it, and backwards too, which is a bit odd. The EEC injection manifolds are bigger and wider - I wonder if that affects the injection accuracy a little.

Neat install !!

Oops - should have said, this engine setup is from 1985 Granada Scorpio, with a Ford EEC-IV controller and Bosch injectors and sensors (in UK at least). Made for only one year - 1986 saw the 2.9 engine put in service and 2.8 dropped.

You are indeed correct, and the 6port inlet manifold and alloy rocker covers go for a nice price on ebay as well, due to the rarity of said engine wink

Yeah, I have one, as well as a 'standard' K version in my wedge, and have worked on carby ones in the past too.

That's how I know that the manifolds are all interchangeable, even the carb ones, and similarly the front covers etc. (you can put an early front cam cover on a later EEC IV engine).

The blocks themselves didn't change externally, later ones got bigger cam journals and a bit of strengthening here and there, but that's all.

I dropped a 1985 2.8V6 from an XR4i into my 1980 Tasmin after it had broken some piston rings on its original motor: the rocker covers were cast alloy with the three ribs and a Ford logo cast-in. I ground off the logos and had the covers powder-coated red to match the car. I don't recall them being shaped quite like the covers in the pics above; I thought mine were more plain rectangles, rather like those on the Rover V8 - but it was well over a decade ago now so I'm probably wrong wink
