What is the difference..
Discussion
Dave - I was considering a Chim before the wedge and looked into one that had had the MC1 - the guy said the difference was night and day (in a good way) but the old cam had hit the magic 50k and was showing worn lobes on removal. With my car at 57k I am wondering whether a cam change is on the cards but then what the hell would be the equivalent for a 390?
There is some discussion in the Chim forums about the MC1 - worth a search

Mines a 4.3, so standard for that was a 214. Not sure what the 400 would have had, but this might help:

You need to decide what you want out of the car and how you drive it. Having everything at the top will mean the low and mid-range suffer -its all a compromise. If its strictly a road car, you want a decent idle and a strong midrange (I would suggest). If you track it, you might want to give up something low down to gain at the top end. Have you got Des Hamills book on power tuning the RV8? In addition, if you have or might get programmable fuel and ignition control, you should be able to go a little bit wilder with the cam. Also bear in mind other tuning changes which you might want to undertake in the future, as you don't really want to be changing the cam etc. again to suit.
Thanks for all the info guys. I do track it but it is mainly a road car and I think the spread of torque is really well suited to the car and the way I drive it on the road.
Even on the track I used to shift around 5- 5500 rpm anyway but that was my idea of looking after the old girl rather than in the knowledge that the cam was meaning max power at the point!!!
Thanks again
