Is there any reason to why one could not drop an SD1 Speedo transducer and turn the mechanical speedos into an electronic version assuming the mechanical gauge was changed for an electronic type too?

Hi Andrew

I was posed with this issue when I put the Griff 500 motor into the "Gredge" as the loom and Hotwire system along with 14CUX ECU has an input to sense whether the car is moving. It can be done using the same bits from the Chim and Griff but you will need to change or get modified the mechanical instrument. I spoke to Speedy Cables, the time and cost plus the fiddle factor in terms of taking the dash out etc was not worth it in my opinion. I still have an issue of the rev counter not working with the Serp engine, so I have retro fitted a little digital tacho so I can keep an eye on things!

You will have to pop over some time mate and have a look at the car and have a chat.

I will pop over Chris - I'm way long overdue a meet with fellow Wedge people. Just out of interest why don't you isolate the rev counter from the Efi loom and connect the trigger direct to the neg side of the coil taking the live feed of the ignition? Or will the car refuse to start if you did?

Just a thought and I will make time to pop over and see you and the Zig real soon.
