Christmas - southern event
Discussion
All,
A few have suggested a Christmas meal at a pub but I get a bit 'Turkey'ed' out .. so how about our usual kind of format : Meet at High Wycombe car park at say 10:30 leave at 11:00 for a leisurely drive to a nice country pub.
I'm sure Sean could do us a nice route and suggest a good country pub.
I'm thinking of Sat 11 or Sun 12 Dec or Sat 18/ Sun 19.. think the Sundays are better as that leaves Saturdays free for shopping.
Anyone interested ?

Yep reckon I could escape for either of these dates. Sunday morning will be better if you want to drive, less numpties
Dickymint, the Compleat Angler is still pricey and has a crap car park, i.e. you can't see you P & J from the bar
Anyone interested in doing a longer run than the usual?

Yes - longer run would be great .. but slower due to the conditions...

Hadn't you heard - cancelled everywhere else - only happenin down sowf
Annoyingly working weekends of the suggested dates (typical
) will see if I can get the Sunday 19th off or at worse just nip out the office ("think I left the gas fire on - back in an hour or so"
) - getting a bit tight as D-Day is the 31st and pretty much run out of hols.. do have time off inbetween and happy to still sort the route & pub out either way.. after my glowing recommendation for the job

Billy - other TVR's are always welcome .. as are people who just want to cadge a lift cause the TVR is off road for winter.. If's it's snowing .. I'll be in the Focus. Hero maybe stupid NOT !
Sean - you have a knack of finding great routes and even better pubs .. if you ever decide to give up the day job - I think you could make a living out of selling good pub guides

Hi there - don't know any of you and unfortunately don't think i would be free either of those weekends as it sounds like it would be a great trip but would suggest The Little Angel pub in Henley at the bottom of the hill leading to the bridge as a pub with food and a large car park that is overlooked by the dining room so you could sit, drink, eat and purr as you survey a line of P&J's - the tel number is 01490 411 008 and the address is Rememnham Lane Henley on Thames. I'm sure if enough of you were going they could reserve the appropriate number of parking spaces for you in pole position - from High Wycombe a recce would be pretty easy. You would have a great drive round some lovely country lanes and then have a full view. Have fun
Cheers Alan, kind of you to say so.. might even consider doing it given I may have some time off in the new year - can think of worse ways to spend it
19th is preferable for me now - hopefully this fits with others.. as mentioned all are of course welcome.. even Dave with his hangover
will try to find a pub with decent enough carpark - btw thanks AJ - know which pub you refer to..

Just thought the car will almost certainly be at Peninsula by then for its annual bit of TLC so I might be coming along in the Clio.
