With a small battery compartment on the wedge, what would you recommend as the best battery to turn over a 350i?

Current fit (Bosch) only has 40aH...looks like it's off a Metro! I bought a Delphi 70aH battery which is supposed to fit the wedge, but the width is about 5mm too wide. All suggestions gratefully received!

Thanks

If you search the forum there should be a load of threads with people listing the batteries they use. Not sure of the make/model of mine (for a 280), but it fits fine and is rated 67ah.

Or a couple of leads running to the boot?

Spoke to my local motor factors when I needed one for the project and he said always take a tape measure with you at the moment, because the battery manufacturers are changing from the old sizing system(?) to a new EU sizing which means the exact same battery from a manufacturer can change in size over a period of weeks. Hence ones that fitted before will not neccessarily still be the case.

I too have the miniscule battery tray in my series 1
280i.
I've fitted an equally miniscule battery, which is probably only about 40amp/hr, but so far she starts first time on the button.
This damp weather, I always have a spray around first with WD40 though.
I've now discovered other batteries (5" wide), that would be better suited, but I'm too tight-fisted to replace this 3 month old one just yet.

I went to my local factors with max dimensions and the largest capacity they could find in their catalogues, that would also fit my 1981 280, was a Motaquip VBZ66 (430CCA). Was a special order but cost about £40. Much bigger capacity than I could get off the shelf. Seems to be up to the job but I do keep a conditioner connecetd to it.

I've got the Delphi fitted in mine.

Can't remember what the model is - but it's know as
the Jag battery ... huge thing - seems to big to go into the gap but there is a trick to getting in in !

Stand with battery in 2 hands - angle at 45 degrees
and follows the inner wheel arch down - it does get tight but it does fit.
