It is probable that this has been asked a few times. However the one I have bought has 205x55x15 on it, needs two back ones now but will be putting it off the road come end of October. Is it worth buying them now or waiting until spring. Some thought seems to be why buy and leave standing all winter. Is this the right tyre size or what. Front ones have loads of tread but as the car has not done a lot of miles in the past few years possibly they need changed as well.
Any thoughts as to the best combination and advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Deke

Whatever you chose to buy my advice is to just keep an eye on prices over the winter because sometimes they have sales with 30-40% off. Then mail order them when you spot a baaargin and have them fitted in the spring.

I thought it was 205/60-14 on early cars, 205/60-15 on 350i and 225/55-15 on the 390SE. Then the OZ 5-spokes came along and I haven't a clue biggrin

Original tyres on my 1983 350i were Goodyear Eagles 205/60/15.

Yes original is 205/60/15 but decent rubber has been harder to get so 205/55/15's are near enough and give more choice of the good stuff - I have used them myself but mainly on the fronts where the small diameter change doesn't affect the speedo.

Yep, keep them wrappen in bin bags so that they're out of the sunlight.

+1 you can get a much nicer tyre in 205/55 like http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?s_p=Brid... and better steering response/feel.

Hi all
Thanks for all responses, it has the Potenza all round at moment. According to National tyres it should be 205x60x15 but will probably just go for the 205x55x15 to get a better choice. Price shown looks good however as I live North East of Scotland we get hammered for delivery so will try and source them locally

Thanks Again

Was looking into this and was considering falken ze914 and vredestein sportrac3 for V-rated 205/60R15.
Upgraded to 16 inch (OZ pluton) with vredestein and keep the bridgestone re720 on the 15inch alloys for the time being.

For the rear, sidewalls on Vredestein are too stiff, on interesting roads anyway

I've recently fitted a set of Avon ZV5 tyres to my 350i in the original size of 205/60r15.
They're absolutely superb, very grippy, but with predictable breakaway when provoked.

Got a set of four, fitted, for £250.

I think you got a bargain there Voltage. I paid that for just the two rear tyres (Michelin 205/60/15) on my 350i.
