Just noticed a wee crunch going into reverse that wasn't there on Sunday when I put the car away? Would this be the spring adjuster thingie on the top of the gearbox (LT77)?

Mine dose that. Someone on here's told me to always put it in 5th before selecting reverse. Works fine for me?

Thanks guys, that's put my mind at rest. I was just a bit worried as it doesn't usually do it.

Since changing to the Mobil oil (see other threads and the FAQ) mine does this less often. It didn't do it last night.

Interesting that the Mobil oil helps this. On an other can of worms, I have carried out an oil change with 10w 40 semi synthetic oil but still have around 30 psi of pressure when warm at around 2000rpm. I think switching to 20w 50 would make a big difference to this. I used that in my last wedge.

Using adequate amounts of oil treatment such as STP or Molyslip should push the oil pressure up and protect the engine. I never do an oil change without it. Just follow the instructions on the tin. In my opinion it is the ultimate engine protection.
