Hi Guys,

What is the optimum running temp for the RV8?

I have had the radiator on my 400se refurbished and at the same time i took the opportunity to put a M22 thread to replace the old sprung bracket for the old push in switch.

What temp should i go for? They have dual temperature so will come on at the higher and off at the lower.

Anyone know what suitable?

If you're talking about the fan switch a few people on here seem to run adjustable fans to fine tune running temp

I'm looking to put a new fan switch in. The old one worked perfectly and I never had any issues but I wanted to put a new style one in and have to chose a temp.

I'll just make a best guess but thought someone might have already done it. My guess is something like 95 cutting and 85 cut off

I think the best temp for an RV8 is around the upper 80's assuming the temp gauge is accurate..

The biggest question is these switches have a range-I.e the cut in at one temp and stay on until the hit the lower temp...

Like this http://www.autoelectricalpartsuk.co.uk/products/Sw...

That's 97-92...

I went for a Kenlowe fan switch dropping the prob down into the rad from the swan neck - despite the fact I will use a manual overide most of the time I have not wired it all yet will get round to that at the weekend..

I think mine has a lower temp stat..Not sure why..She warms up nice and there is a manual override which is pretty effective..Its just remembering to keep an eye on the temp when stationary…I think i would prefer it on an otter switch or temp control stat….Ziga
