Yeah they are nice mate, the standard ones are crapy to be honest.
Flimsy and they kinda look broken even though there not!

I see that photo also shows that the plastic clamp WAS broken and has the classic "bit of ally" attached as a fix....

Although not to everyones taste, I changed mine for the Triumph 2000/2500 Saloon stalks and cover. A bit of fiddling around with brackets etc, but result is quite nice, and stalks look neater than originals (and they are better quality).

Will attach photo....

Aye, not sure what the plastic actually is but it does seem a lot like Bakelite, especially when you examine fractures.

Unfortunately this seems to be the way BL went with their "ordinary" range of stalks and controls ! Ealier is better IMHO. The Triumph ones have a proper metal curved plate and screws, with a much better 'block' design.

Pity it isn't a straight swop....

Just wondering if the classic mini stalks are the same as the SD1…Although they look slightly longer from the SD1.
The operation on the stalks are the same, I have found a set on flea that i might grab for a later upgrade of alloy by a top engineer bloke that i know… wink

(Again from my Triumph fiddling days...)

On the Triumph saloon/Dolomite type design, which might be the same as the Mini, you can actually get the stalks out (Carefully!) and replace them. Done that once or twice.
