Which size nuts are used on the upper and lower front suspension arm bolts (one long one short bolt), my originals are castle type nuts with a unf thread. Looked on old parts store, the bolts are listed but not the nuts, need all four. Anyone know the size and where to buy, i'm guessing Namrick possibly. Thank you.

That's a tough one...they are the only ones I didn't replace as they certainly weren't off the shelf...

Are yours lost??

I have lost two - don't know how, but I suppose when you dismantle a whole car, something is bound to go missing, as careful as I have tried to be !
I have tonight checked the threads again against a pitch gauge and can reveal the are not unf as first thought, but metric, pitch 1.25. The internal diameter of the nuts on the peak of the thread is 10.8mm and the external diameter of the bolt on the thread peak is 11.4 mm. Looking at ford websites, the Cortina mk3,4,5 etc used metric threads on most if not all fittings as far as I am aware ( someone may correct me here ). I believe it may be a M12 nut, but was looking for confirmation if anyone might know.

Sounds like an M12 extra-fine. I replaced my pivot bolts a few years ago, can't find any notes on what sizes I used though, sorry.

If you get stuck, these are the people I bought all my fixings from...they are incredibly knowledgeable and very patient!! I took every nut and bolt off my car and labelled them in individual bags before taking the whole lot in one day and they matched them one by one! Amazing...

Anyhow, I'm sure if you called them and said you needed them (and sent them to them or gave the description) they would get them for you smile

Just don't mention me as they might charge extra after my long visit!! biggrin

Size M12 x 1.25 - 100mm long.
