For those that might be interested, I had my 400SE corner weighted today as part of a project my son is doing at university. The weight with just under half a tank of petrol was exactly 1200Kgs. The weight distribution was 54.2/45.8 front/rear with a side weight split of 49/51 left/right.

Interesting figures…I should imagine all that goes out the window with a boot full of tools and a fat controller…As is in my case!..

More like..

30.1/60.9 front/rear
side weight split of 25/75 left/right
Total weight = 1400Kgs….

biggrin

Sounds about standard. You can see why they pushed the engine into the dashboard with the Griff.

I also took another set of figures with me in the car and it shifted the weight distribution marginally backwards to 53.6/46.4 front/rear. So the centre of gravity must be in front of the drivers centre of gravity.

Does a 400 have more polyester? My 350i ('86 series II) is 1120kg, which I thought is heavy.
And yes, I don't have and don't like boot spoilers so that is at least 25kg, isn't it? smile but not 80kg.
Flared arches, rear under 'spoiler' perhaps?

My 400SE doesn't have a boot spoiler, so that doesn't come into the equation. How much fuel was in your 350 when it was weighed. I would imagine a full tank of fuel would add quite a bit of weight.

Well quite. 50 Litres is 50Kg.

...and if the boot spoiler weighed 25Kg, you'd struggle to lift the boot lid.

You're going to take it all the way to Surrey? wink

Aye, so much for the lightweight fibreglass sport car; I think I once worked out that a typical Wedge with 2 on board weighed as much as an empty Granada...wobble

Fuel is a bit lighter than water - that's why it floats. A litre of petrol weighs 0.7 kg so 50 litres is 35 kg. I only know this because of sprinting where eight is all important. My stripped griff is 1040 kg with a full roll cage

Do you mean 100lbs? I have picked both engines off the floor in my time, I doubt I could have lifted the V6 if it was heavier again than the V8 by my own weight!

A pint of water weighs a pound and a quarter. Just thought I should add that.

Either way that may be stripped weight but fully dressed and with the extra plumbing The V8 and V6 cars are the same weight.
