Has any Wedges read this:- TVR (Volume Two) A Passion To Succeed.

I'd like to know a bit more about it before I buy as its not exactly cheap

Does it cover the Wedge era in detail?
Is it a good read?
Is it worth the cost?

Thanks any info appreciated

Only covers up to 1981 so only the very early Wedges are included - none of the V8 models. About 70 of the 400 main pages cover Wedges.

I suspect you'd be better waiting for the next in the series.

Superb for Vixens and M's though!

Shame its one of the best books produced covering the History of the mark if I was you I would order both volume 1 and 2 direct from Peter Filby the Author as he was doing a deal on the two I believe in time he will be doing a volume 3 that will cover 81 to 2006 but don't hold your breath as its a lot of work and investment hence the price but worth every penny.
If Vol3 comes out and vol1 and 2 are sold out you will kick yourself.
Its great to get a book that covers your car but the history of your car is like a family tree and what are parents and grandparents etc are what makes us what we are
Cars are no different

Good point but I've got a few books on the history of TVR and didn't want to be rereading the same information and was hoping that P to S was going to be more in depth on our cars.

Not totally wrote off the idea of buying it yet still mulling it over

Cheers

You won't be re-reading the same stuff as Peter's books are probably the most researched and accurate TVR books you'll find. Obviously the facts will be the same but he actually speaks and visits the people involved when possible and doesn't rely on the hearsay and myths that so many authors do, that's why he takes so long to produce his books. I know he came up to Blackpool several times to attend the meetings of ex-workers that Jon Mleczek organises and there's some real knowledge there I can assure you.

Well worth investing in.

It's a great read and it covers the begining of the Wedge in details.

If you only have one TVR book, it should be Success Against The Odds - by Mr Philby.

When I asked Peter Filby to sign my copy (when buying Passion to Succeed) he told me it was full of errors and seemed almost embarrassed by it. But I'd agree it does cover a lot of ground for a relatively small book.

The new series has much more breadth and depth and many more pictures. Peter's clearly spent a lot of time researching so I can understand why he commented negatively on his earlier work.

You're also be lucky to find a cheap copy of Success Against the Odds!
