Rain rain rain I can't do anything with my Wedge this weekend. But I was wondering... what was the original antenna on a wedge meant to be like?

Mine has two (one possibly for a carphone or alarm) and I can see from the history that the original was replaced at some point

Mine (US version S2) had a retracting one in the right rear corner - where it gets bumped by the spoiler if on/up. However, the method of powering it is not the same as the modern/current ones. It had a up-down switch on the center dash which I took out when I rewired it. There is a thread on all that. Grady

Hi Mate...Im not sure if all cars had two antennas. I believe one is for the stereo and the other for a phone..Mine has this and it looks like someone has filled in the O/S hole very badly....

I have one in the nearside, same as above. although i have a FHC and i'm sure someone mentioned in a previous thread sometime ago that the FHC had the aerial incorporated into the rear window.

Certainly did. Funnily enough Ford went to some enormous lengths to do the same thing with the Sierra, I recall reading a technical paper on it while I was at college.

Being that the cars made of plastic I hope all your antennas have the outer braid of the coaxial cable well grounded.

One route is to have plenty of 3M or similar metal foil sticky tape but whatever you do you should have a groundplane of sorts for the antenna to work properly and to keep any ignition interference in check.

I think the inner wing of my car is lined with foil. The other inner wing is lined with Rizla whistle
