My 280 has been sent to the auto electrics place for a non-functioning wiper and they say the motor is toast.

This is my daily driver and I'm screwed if I can't sort it asap.

I've rang Richard Thorpe and he's going to have a poke about, but he may not be able to help. He could try rebuilding mine, but that's not a certainty and it could take a while.

Can't get an answer from David Gerald.

There is a triumph scrappy near here...is the motor the same? Could I put the wedge gearbox/park part onto a TR7 motor?

I believe it is, with the drive cut to size, this is all from memory, i think steve heaths book has a bit on it...

On the brighter side, i should still have my old one in the garage, I've replaced mine with a centrally mounted French unit...

If i still have it, i'll let you know tonight and post again, but wont be getting in until after 11 this evening...sorry.

Regards
Iain

I think the motors are similar but the position of the park switch is different. The motor castings seem to be the same but you would need to cut a hole to mount the park switch. I suspect the gears will also be different as the TR7 has 2 wipers so doesn't need as much sweep.

TR7 job with a few tweaks and your enginuity should be sound. I cut one back and fitted it eon's ago.
I may have one but can't get on to it for a while. Try Penninsula and Tower View they may have one. There was a couple in the spares that TVR where selling off but I missed the deal.

Thanks folks.

I got through to David Gerald. He's got one, but he says that it'll park on the passenger side. Would this be the TR7 one or something else altogether?

I've told him I'll take it as I'm not that bothered at the moment about where it parks as longs as it gets the rain off.

But, Iain, if you have a correctly parking one, I'd take your hand off getting that from you

Well, got a wiper motor (it's a TVR supplied part, but no idea what it's intended for). It works exactly as the original except it parks on the wrong side.

Works like a charm though so for the time being, it'll have to do. Maybe when it's warmer and I don't need to worry so much about being left with a wiperless car there will be some time or experimenting and seeing about getting it working the correct way.
