Spares - Sorry Chaps
Discussion
Well I tried!
I first suggested buying the Wedge and S moulds and jigs back in early July during the Wheeler ownership of TVR and thus to set-up a cost effective route for the unusual bits, over and above the regular parts available from the other factors.
After many calls and e mails I was asked in late Sept if I was interested in the lot including the remaining spares. I viewed it with the very helpful Mike Williams, great guy, and some dealers, etc had also viewed.
Many parts you can all get from the regular places though there were some OZ's, TVR guages, etc and a load of bits such as TR7 columns, SEAC exhaust and a vast amount of other stuff which I thought would move slowly. The moulds and jigs for the main units where IMHO in poor repair.
My thoughts were to put all the parts on the web at a sensible price to shift them and then try and source the regular and unavailable parts or get alternatives, E.g. headlamp motors, window motors, etc. I had hoped the moulds would be okay to make upgrade as well as replacement parts.
I placed what I thought was a realistic value on the lot and made an offer though I think TVR felt I was way off the mark. I haven't had any direct feedback, unfortunately, as yet, though I am told the whole lot has been sold. If I can find out to whom you'll be the first to know - all I can say is Sorry as I had hoped for a Wedge & S fan to get this lot to help us all - it may still be possible that the new owners a Wedge/S head - lets hope so.

I suppose all that will happen is that alternatives will be found for eg steering column, pod motors.
Bear in mind there's still a large pool of TR7s in the States that will yield spare motors etc.
Some parts such as Renault 12 indicators are already starting to become rarer; I didn't fancy £80 and 6 weeks delivery so I made my own from GRP and spare lampholders. OK so there's no 'E' marking but then the exhaust doesn't exactly conform to Euro harmony either
Sooner or later, especially if the new mould owner gets cocky with prices, someone will use a good car to take a mould off, and similarly the chassis isn't exactly rocket science.
So I'm not panicking too much yet.
Mind you, if many more crashed Wedges appear on auction sites, there'll be very few of us left anyway...

Gents, Robsport international are TR7 and stag breakers/spares suppliers and they seem to have loads of light pod motors that can be supplied reconditioned. Last time I spoke to them (months ago)the cost was about £45 on an exchange basis. Concur with comments about the spares, good try Gary.
As an aside anyone know what value the diodes are attached to the main and dip fuses???? I have only got one and the writing is not complete.

I've got a spare car with an A frame chassis (Jim Chase has his name on it if I sell) but thought I might get a jig made of the A Frame and the chassis and perhaps some other key bits. Question is - is there enough of us Wedgies out there who might want to buy a new chassis, an outrigger, an A Frame, etc. I've got a mould of the SEAC arches and rear wing!
There were columns in amongst the parts though they were TR7 and I think if a new column is needed either a) the car has had a very big 'off' or the owner would be replacing with the stubby stalk Grenada unit.

Jim, et al,
Thought right now are. Get that illusive job! then get the racer finished as it's not attracting much attention in bits, get the A frame bits and chassis jigged as well as do some other bits (E.g. MX5 lift motor conversion) then Jim can buy the chassis and I have a Jig for when I smack the racer!

Perhaps TVR are being too greedy for the lot.. I would think that try hard enough and you will find the spares you need via all the usual sources - the chassis is a slightly different matter (as is the SEAC body) but there are independents with jigs already. Shame you didn't get the spares Tas, well done for trying though
