Forgive me if I should know but what are these in pic one and should these wires go somewere in picture 2

Hi Mate..

Pic 1. Thats the windscreen washer pump but I'm not sure what the little box thing is?
Pic 2.They go to a fuel cut out device which is missing on yours..Mines not connected either...Cheers...Ziga

I assume you've worked out that the thing on the left is the windscreen washer pump. The one on the right is non-standard - maybe the control for an adjustable cooling fan? IIRC my loom also had these 2 loose leads (before I had a custom loom made).

Nice one zig, every time I go under the bonnet I think what the hell are they.

Yep, looks like a fan control thermostat to me - the thin silver 'wire' is the capillary from the sensing bulb which is probably fixed into the radiator top hose.

The white wires are, on some installations, connected to a vacuum switch that is tapped off the rear of the plenum chamber. The switch acts to cut the trigger signal from the ignition amplifier on over-run, so no fuel is injected which does away with the popping and banging.
Whether this was to improve fuel economy, improve engine braking when towing or to stop the SD1 from sounding like a tractor when decelerating is unclear.

Yep it's a Kenlowe adjustable thermostat for the engine fan.
