It's an interesting car. If you said £8K for a good 400SE then add on a bit for low mileage and mod (supercharger) you get to shy of ten. So do you add £5K on for historic value and rarety? Not in my book but if you want one there isn't an alternative so maybe it will fetch their £13 to 16K estimate. J
Still is @ £14,500.. the last 400 SE that went through a classic car auction was over a year or so ago and didn't hit £8K.. people may be put off by the exceptionally low mileage unless it has been serviced and MOT'd yearly.. TVRs at auction don't tend to get much - a certain very clean 1992 Griffith went for £9K a few months ago at auction - this one could be a bargain waiting to happen?
Quite a few cars don't get close to the figure suggested by the seller or auction house and are therefore sold provisionally (ie the highest bid is offered to the seller to confirm they will accept it) personally for auction value I would put it in the region of £10K if the history is all there and it is as immaculate as it sounds.. it will no doubt pop up at another dealers asking £4K more as tends to happen.. be nice to see it within the faithful though..
Interesting what you are saying about the prices. I bought my 430SE 4m months or so ago and paid privately £12,200, which I know was a lot for a wedge, but it is very rare and in excellent nick having in the region of 40k miles on the clock. At least I am happy with it and the noise and acceleration are fantastic, but I don't need to tell you that.

We talked about this car when it was advertised on here recently and also when advertised around a year ago and then when it was at RT (I think) - I could be wrong, it has been known! but it does seem to have been around a bit and for sale a few times thus as Seamus said the low mileage could put people off!! Remember the gamekeepers comments: We have to take care not to be dispareging unless we've seen it or know the history.
Negative forum comments about my SEAC when the previous owner was selling it on Auto Trader meant I got a bargain as it wasn't that Bad!!
I agree with Rev that the SEAC is the more desireable car.
I recon it'd be a good deal at £7,500 and the vendor should be chuffed at £9,750 IMHO of course.

It was sold via RT a year or so ago with 5,500 miles and was described at the time as exceptionally well looked after, in mint condition & bl**dy quick.. at that stage it had the same owner since it was 8 months old, presume the current owner was the one who bought it from them. I don't think anyone is being disparaging about the car itself but more guessing at what the price should be at auction based on a knowledge of what we've seen wedges/TVRs bought and sold for.. as for the engine numbers - we all know what TVR was like in those days.. Although it is part of TVRs wedge history it isn't seen as significant as say the SEAC so should be cheaper - but more than a stock 400 SE... obviously only worth what someone is will pay for it.. if I was in the market for a wedge I would strongly consider this one.. much more mid range grunt!

To be fair I would think that is a fair description - it's a wedge and it was developed in conjunction with TVR.. TVR dropped the idea of many cars which are all still considered part of their history.. >> Edited by seamus on Monday 22 November 07:43
