Luckily the cover hadn't completely come off.

I was expecting the worse when we lifted the gate away...

but MIRACULOUSLY(!) - holy mother of god - it seems that British GRP is made of sterner stuff and will not be troubled by a mere glancing blow of a brick wall coming down!!!

No visible damage to either bodywork or paint

(My wheels on the other hand are oxidising quite nicely and need attention)

It went 'Smash' just like your forum name. These Wedges are made of tough stuff, and you were lucky. Couple of my neighbours fences went flying too but luckily in the back garden. Nice wedge. Look after it.

I've only just noticed after looking at the pics about five times. Is that a brick wall that's gone over as well?

Yep - it was a brick wall. I think it was the ivy to blame - acting as a drag chute. To be fair the wall is free standing i.e. gate at either end so really should've had some support I suppose. If I'd have bothered to put a car port in I reckon the wall would still be up as it'd be braced on one end.

Yes - lottery ticket defo!!!

I guess this proves two things:

1. There is a god and 2. He loves wedges!

Once you have re-polished them there are alloy wheel waxes that will protect them or a good way is to wipe them over with some WD40...Ziga

How lucky is that?! Great that the situation didn't live up to your forum name!
