Strange attitude chap. Maybe they should all just be allowed to crumble away...?

TVR 400SE for sale. Once very much loved now left standing under cover for 10 years. Needs new clutch and some TLC. Best offer secures.
Sounds like a reasonable ad to me. If you fancy a punt then have a look and make an offer.

I contacted the guy twice eventually had a response via GTree. I aske dfor details of the car and got a desent report. I asked him for contact details to arrange viewing. I then had another email to advice on his current offers. I again responded asking to view and said the figures seemed ok but hard to tell without viewing.

Still no contact details but I did get an email over the weekend to say the car is now sold.

How can you make an offer without viewing or even getting a phone number to at least have a chat?

I know GTree can be a bit iffy but if you want to sell something surely you have to expect people to want to see what they are buying.

mine had been off the road for about 6 years before i bought mine and once i had got through the pain of getting the rear brakes sorted (which was a PITFA) it was good as gold!

Depends how well it was stored...

After 10 years sitting under a tarp and looking at the pics I would expect the new owner is looking at a full body off rebuild. I would imagine every bit of rubber ( bushes hoses pipe work ) will be u/s brake calipers siezed That's without engine work , possible chassis rust, and interior work. It's not gonna be cheap getting it back on the road that's for sure. Still at least it may be another one saved - let's hope it doesn't reappear on ebay being broken for parts ! smile

Surely that's their decision? What would you have the seller do, give it away? There's no pleasing some people: you want your own car to be worth a fortune but the other guy's to be worth diddly.

I think it's great someone has bought it, and hopefully will return it to its former glory. It isn't always about the money with these cars...it's a passion. I for one will welcome him/her if they post up on here. smile

I offered 2500 without seeing it !

If the guy would have come back and given me the opportunity to view, would have paid the asking 3k

A 400se with 40k and the little matter of a rebuild, bargin.

Can now understand why he didnt bother coming back to me, with all the cash flying about.............what i say is great

I bought my 400 from ebay without viewing, it had only done 2000 miles in ten years before i got it, then i have added 15000 in 3 and a bit years, spent little to keep on the road enjoying every moment (needs a bit spending now), hey ho.

i dont think it will be that bad my car was sitting in pistolars garden on mud with no cover for about 5 years and the chassis was really good only one small spot but that could only be seen when i lifted the body 6 inchs it would never have been found by an mot station as for electrics they all worked fine and my car has been of the road for 19 years 5 of them in my garage and nearly there
ps its sitting on concrete and its been under a proper cover that has its own frame
pps engine ???? if it was good when parked up i would not surprise me with a little work over a weekend youll have it running these cars always surprise me
