400SE Gear lever removal
Discussion
Morning wedge experts...
As you can see from the pics in "whats going on in your garage" we in the process of taking the engine & box out, most of it's self explanatory apart from how to get the gear lever off to allow the box to clear the chassis, I know there is a spring clip holding and a cup holding it in place but how do you get at the spring clip & cup ? - unclip / unbolt from underneath or does the transmission tunnel cover come off somehow allowing access to the base of the gear lever from above ??
Thanks.

You can get at it either way depending on your flexibility... just remove bolt, prise the bias springs out of the way (Haynes say to unscrew the retaining clamp so you don't bend the springs but it's not necessary if you're careful - and you won't be able to get at it from underneath) and plop, out comes the lever.
