Hi Mate...Welcome to the Wedge fraternity...You could try these for the battery, Cant recommend one as it all depends on the space designated for the battery...I could only fit an MX5 gel battery in my old 280i as the space was tapered which was a right pain..I think you need around 450CCA...Ziga

Welcome !!
As Zig says, earlier 2.8 wedges have a narrow battery space, so it's hard to find a battery with enough 'guts'
Recommended for 2.8 is at least 400CCA (CCA = Cold Cranking Amps), and smaller common batteries are only about 330.
The common 'big' batteries are too wide.
I found a battery which fits in my (DHC) wedge nicely, a bit longer, but no wider than small one. It's New Zealand reference is NS60A. Should be the same ref everywhere ? Its rated at 430CCA and has round post terminals.
I'm not sure if the FHC has more or less space for its battery, may be best to go to Auto Electrical place as they often have a bigger range of batteries. They cost a bit more, but you do tend to get a better quality battery IMHO.

Thanks for the responses. On this general advise I have ordered for delivery tomorrow an enduraline 440 CCA rating that fits between the strapping rings. The battery that I have taken out was a 300 CCA and had not lasted very long.
Will at some point in the not so distant future do a body off resto, but want to enjoy the car this coming summer.
Fingers crossed.
Are their any Tasmin FHC S1 owners within range of the Dunstable area?
Roughly how many are still in existance?

IIRC it was the original battery for the TR7 that was used.
As to how many left, define left? As I recall there were 118 S1 FHCs; usual survival rate quoted is around 50-60%. Not helped by a few being chopped into race cars and a few more scrapped because they had a bit of rust on the chassis
Going by the number of mouldy cars coming out of the woodwork this winter there may be more 'left' than we think, but as to how many are roadworthy, well you could go through the members list on here and see how many are there, but the figures aren't helped by people who sell and then don't remove the cars from their profiles.
'Howmanyleft.co.uk' accesses the DVLA database but it falls over a bit for the TVR Wedges as not all are registered as their actual designation: most of the 390SEs are 350i's and there's often no distinction between fixed and dropheads, for example.
Whatever, it's a rare car, so try not to set fire to it or wrap it around a tree

SQUEEZED my new battery in this evening after cutting small plastic veins off the top of it to get it in its slot, every time I put one in it gets harder,
Perhaps I should rephrase that, it gets tighter, ohh you get the idea.
Its a Bosch S4 027 silver top, 630 amp, 70amh with a four year warranty for what that's worth. wooly
