Hi

I am just finishing the winter work/refurb of my 280i auto which I personly use as much as I can.

The tyres are now past there sell by date so I have decided to replace them.

At present I have fitted Bridgstone R71 205/60/R15 V

My local/friend tyre fitter has come up with some prices for me.

Falkens at £73.30 each
Kumho at £73.25 each
Autogrip at £56.25 each (What ever they are?)
Avon's at £84.62 each

These prices also include the usual fitting, valves and balancing etc.

I am thinking of having the Falkens has anybody had experance of them or even any of the others.

Hi Andy,

I have tried all sorts, but always came back to Toyos on the S3 and 400SE. And Nelly just loves them; sure footed and precise, rain or shine.

Toyo all the way for me...

Cheers

Andy

I use use toyo on my TVR but have used Falken in the past, one of the only manufacturers that product a suitable tread pattern for MGF. They were excellent, I would certainly try them on the TVR if they have the right size..

I've got falkens and have done for the last few changes mainly as there is such little choice and they seem pretty good.

Make quite good number 11's too (an obvious criteria for any tvr) smile

Hi
I had Falkens on my X Type V6 and I thought they were a pretty good all round tyre, I will be needing a couple for the 350i soon so will be thinking about them. It depends on price up here as some places to a decent deal on these will try a few dealers this week coming for prices

Hi

Thanks for the replys!

I use Toyos on my Cerbera and they are a great tyre, the problem is getting the correct tyre size and there is not a great choice in 205/60/15

I think I will have to do a bit more investigating during the week. But I don't want to take to long as I want to get the car back on the road. Plus I want the space for the next project into the workshop!

Andy, the Toyos I had fitted the other week were 205/60/15's so they are available. Cheers.

You can also fit 205/55/15's as there isn't much difference in rolling radius. Might give you more choice.

I have Dunlop SP Sport Fast Response 205/60/15 on the 350i and although they are predominantly for passenger vehicles they have good grip in the dry & wet, They are quiet and feel good at speed...They have mixed reviews but i like them...They are a softer tyre which makes them a good summer tyre although i have used them in the colder winter days..Not much cop on ice but then are any tyres?....Ziga

I put toyo's on the wee beastie

I used etyres.co.uk

Cheapest by far and they even come and do it at your home / work

He even asked how I would like it jacked up, air pressure and torque for the nuts

Very diligent and great price

Should this not be 215/55/15 or 225/55/15? http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator Assuming they do not rub the arches

Hi

Well I spent the morning on the net doing some comparisons.

So it's now down to two tyres.

Falken ZE914s and Toyo Proxes CF2

Both tyres have the same ratings and with a only a price differance of £2.10 a tyre.

Howard, John, Keith or Glen were the Toyos you had fitted Proxes CF2?

Andy

Hi Andy, yes they are the Toyo CF2. Had a fantastic drive this morning in the sunshine and dry roads. Toyos were brilliant for dry grip and also seemed okay the other week in a torrential down pour.

I got mine through the local village garage which ordered them in for me.

Cheers.

Hi

What are diff between the T1R Proxes and the Proxes CF2?

Anybody know, or is it just the tyre pattern.

Andy

Just to add:

Currently running Avon ZV5s on my 350i in the dead right, 205/60R15 size.

I've been thrilled with them.
Very good steering feedback, low road noise, nice and grippy - but progressive when pushed.
Pretty much ideal for a wedge tbh.
