Yes, that was me. I wasn't going anywhere in particular, just cruising. Were you in your Wedge? I would have remembered if I had seen another Wedge.

My knob problem is solved, but I haven't received my new one yet. Still tugging at my old knob, which sometimes comes off in my hand, until the new one arrives. After all the commotion, the threads were, as several people on here suggested, 5/16 unc. It's just that the threads on the shaft were messed up, but using plenty of oil, a wire brush, a 5/16 unc nut and a spanner I managed to revive the existing threads. I can now put a 5/16 unc nut onto the shaft by hand, so a new knob threaded correctly should go straight on.

The worst thing you can do is over tighten your knob. It can come off in your hand or worst still split in half. Especially the wooden ones.

I have three new black plastic tractor knobs with the correct 5/16 unc brass threads which will go straight on your shaft. They are a bit smaller than your average knob but is a good sound temporary replacement. I only paid pennies for them. You are welcome to have one for the price of postage. I can send a picture of one on my shaft if you like.

It's not my Knob that's the problem - my leather foreskin has split and I need to unscrew my Knob remove the foreskin and have it sewed back up and then refitted

Is your Wedge running now? If it is we should meet up and do a North London run.
