I asked the question on Friday about prices and on Saturday i thought what the hell so went and finally made the decision on the 390se at Track V Road. Unfortunately i can't have it for a while as the great chaps down there are preping it and i'm having some some paintwork done to make it look really goooooood!
I have no doubt i will be become a pain on here when i do get it, asking loads of questions
In fact i will probably start asking them before i get it so be prepared.
First question: I Have had TVR in the past, a 350i and a Griffith but this was some 10 years ago +, is it still worth joining the TVR owners club?
Thanks
Steve.

Great choice, if I could have justified it, I'd if had it!
Funnily enough, my renewal is coming up for TVRCC
And I'm unsure.. All the help and info I've had in the last year has come from PH
Don't want to put it down, as it is a good thing, but in fairness I've not reall had any use from it.

Hi Steve, I'm fairly new to TVR ownership myself. Bought a 350i at the end of January. The help/advice/knowledge of the forum lads is fantastic, better than any workshop manual in my opinion.
Re the TVR-CC I joined so that I could also attend some of the local events and I also believe (may be a myth) that the car insurance is slightly cheaper if you are a member. The monthly magazine is a fairly good read as well. For years I've subscribed to Classic cars magazine but it was all getting a bit repetitive. The annual membership for the TVR-CC was less that the annual Classic car subscription so I thought it was a good alternative.
Will the car re ready for the BBWF? If so fancy seeing how many horses you have on the rolling road?
Cheers Keith

As you are new to the fold so to speak (10years have past) you'll be keen and interested in everything that goes on with TVR including the local club meets so personally I'd say yes its worth it, you'll want to contribute to sprint perhaps and you'll want to meet up with others and get out as much as you can ,its the price of a tank of fuel so go on and get the feel for it.
Wooly.

Personally i didn't join until this year...Being the sole organiser for this years BBWF i required the help the help of the TVRCC was which done with ease...They can provide public liability insurance and some regalia and also advertise the event in their events calendar and hopefully in Sprint, Which is a good read, Ok its not always about Wedges but it is about TVR's..Again they can only publish what is submitted..(Which reminds me)...I will also submit a yearly audit of accounts to them even though its not compulsory but i feel necessary as its other peoples money thats being utilised and is under the guise of TVR so therefore needs independent viewing...I would of course offer anyone of you the option to view the BBWF statement as there will be nothing to hide....Ziga

Regards the TVRCC Membership I really think you cant go wrong the cost of membership is worth the magazine on its own and the offers such as Silverstone classic 2 for 1 for me anyway saves more than the membership alone and the local meets in your area are a great get together even if you don't go every month so all in all seems a no Brainer IMOP

OK Guys, looks like i will be placing order for membership then pretty soon.
I am hoping it won't be too long before i can take delivery, after all spring is here and the clocks go forward next week,so all being well i will be attending the BBWF and this time in a Wedge, I attended in 2010 as a spectator just to drool over some nice examples.

Congratulations. Welcome to the Wedge world. I think you did well in buying the one from Track V Road as it looks like a real nice car. Also the 390 is rare and is likely to keep it's value better in the long run. When it was initially put up for sale a while back it seemed a bit pricey, but the prices have caught up already, and for today, that is a reasonable price for such a nice car. Enjoy and have fun. There is nothing quite like a Wedge, especially a V8.

Congrats on the purchase - you didn't hang about did you?!
I have been looking around the classifieds for a while and actually viewed the 390 3 times before going for it and had seen another wedge but the 390 just seemed right along with the service and attention forwarded by the guys at Track V Road.I actually started to look for classic TVR around 4 years ago but ended up walking away for one reason and another. I actually ended up buying a Westfield which i have had and enjoyed for the last 3 years before selling it to fulfill my desire for a TVR once again.

Excellent choice, I recently purchased my SEAC from Craig and the chaps at Track v Road. Can't recommend highly enough!

Look forward to seeing more of your 390SE.

Only if you feel the need to be a member of a club. Otherwise save your money for some fuel, it'll probably be more rewarding.Personally. I didn't get much out of the TVRCC
Magazine seemed to be full of 'lifestyle' articles and a lot of 'cheque book' restorations.
I was hoping for much more technical content in the magazine ala Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, Jaguar Drivers Club etc.
Wedges still seem very much the 'odd one out' of the TVR world. The grey area between classic TVRs and the later cars.
I've had a much more rewarding time contributing to the Wedge forum here, on PH.

Enjoy your wedge!

A previous statement about being new and eager to understand more about TVR is quite valid, you will find the club magazine interesting to see what goes no etc. if you insure through a classic insurer and who wouldn't, you get an extra 10% discount and they will need a club membership number.
The club meets and events can be quite interesting, and usually well organised and their is nothing wrong in nosing around some of the later and earlier cars. Besides that, it is always fun rocking up in a wedge they are just so much louder and usually turn a few heads.
Best way, try for a year and see what you think :0)

Congrats on the car, I do love that colour
As for TVRCC its £50 a year, you get the mags, insurance discount and the events etc. forum is better here though
I put ut this way, My wife can spend £50 just on "OK" magazines so its a no brainer for me
If folk don't join the club it will struggle then scale back and possibly shut. Then we'll all be saying we wished we had a club
Just saying

Very little for a Wedge owner at TVRCC a few years ago when I was a member, perhaps it's changed since then? Technical support was (still is?) far better on PH.
I agree technical support is not there however that would be rather hard to do in comparison to one model clubs such as VW or MG yes I know there are variants but not as broad as we have in the TVR world from early Granturas through to the latest Sagaris. What the Club offers is IMOP good value for money if you get involved its like paying for gym membership but only going a few times a year.
However the Magazine is always a good read and without it we would not be as aware as we are of events etc and if you need history on your car or to contact previous owners they often can help.
Also there Classified section is great for letting others know what you have spare for sale I probably saved my membership cost this year on pay pall/e bay fees from selling just one item alone that I had spare.
Its like all things you get out of it what you put in.
