Remote filter gasket and ARB questions
Discussion
Hi all, had a satisfying evening pulling bits off the Wedge to resolve a few issues:
1. The remote oil filter banjo has been weeping since I got the car. I've taken it apart and was wondering if anyone knows if you can buy the gasket on its own? I have tried Rimmers but they say not. Has anyone managed to track one down or is it a case of getting some gasket sheet and making one to suit?

2. Second job is the rattling ARB. I've got some new bushes from ML. When I took it apart a few things weren't right - the actual brackets differ from each other. One is symmetrical but the other has a reduced width at one end. I presume that this is not normal? Secondly inside the very worn bushes were some thin brass shims. Usually the ARB just goes through the bush without a shim. I'm presuming that this is not normal practice? Finally the links are rose jointed. Bearings all seem okay but the bolts going through it are fully threaded so the small rose joint rattles on the bolt. Also the strip of rubber hose at the back was pushed up tight along the ARB and had "ridden" up the shoulder. Is there usually a washer to stop this happening? Does anyone know what type of links these are?
All help appreciated. Thanks.

Brass shims on ARB

1. I know that gasket - it's quite thick. Yours looks OK it shouldn't weep after you clean it up and put it back on with blue sealant.
2. Looks like some "extra engineering" has happened on the ARB. I expect the brass reduces friction and wear. Normally it's not installed. The brackets intimate details are not important as long as they don't snap. I don't think you can get Ford ones any more except New Old Stock. You can replace then with purpose-made proper brackets made from alloy and bolted top and bottom.
The drop links look like Steve Heath ones - they will last for quite a while and look serviceable. Yes there should be a washer between the hose and top link to stop it splaying out but it's just there to stop the top sliding around. Don't grease the rose joints as the grease just attracts grit.

Adam, thanks for the reply. I've got red sealant in stock but no blue so I'll pick some up tomorrow. I'll try and get some suitable galvanised washers plus I've ordered a length of silicon hose to replace the knackered old bits. While it's all apart I'll give it all a wire brush and coat of paint. Cheers.
