Spoiler repair???
Discussion
Hi Mate...Some good stuff there but i must say that if you are removing the spoiler to repair than PLEASE brace it up..You could probably screw a piece of wood across the whole top where the fixings are, The reason i say this is because as soon as you wet the old fibreglass by applying new it WILL warp!...As i found out on my first attempt of fibreglass repair...Here is what i did..

The filler was flexible but there are products available that are a filler mixed with fibreglass..
You can buy a fibreglass kit from Howlfrauds but buy extra resin and hardener and an applicator brush...
If i were to do it again i would probably use resin without the fibre to fill the cracks and then fill the surface with flexible filler..(U-Pol)..Its a bloody messy job but once you get to grips with it its very rewarding..Also even if you match the paint bear in mind it will be a brighter shade due to the original paint being exposed to the weather....Good luck mate...Ziga

Never use the resin without matting and only use the filler to fill the pin holes. If the spoiler is so weak that it will move after grinding out the cracks either strengthen the opposite side with fibreglass or glass on a piece of wood. If you screw the wood in place then you'll have more holes to grind out and fill.

I was suggesting bracing it while repairing as i found out after applying the new fibreglass it had warped the spoiler due to it wetting up the old stuff..Cheers...Ziga Looks like it's basically in-shape so I'd grind the underside to give a nice keying surface, lay up some mat and resin on it to keep it all together then grind the loose stuff out from above and work upwards.
I have repaired similar damage (previously bodged with a handful of Catty by some monkey
) in almost the same place on my car:

The leading edge had been crunched and filler used to reshape it (I wonder if this was when the chin spoiler was removed as well). As the car went up on an MOT lift the end-stop ramp swung up and cracked the spoiler so all the filler fell out. I took a mould from further across the car, laid up a new leading-edge piece and cut a section out to let the repair piece in.

What happened to the extended version? Did it have four headlamps?
Aha yeah, I used to be able to find that pic using Google, it was on Barryboys at one stage as well. The original is on a HDD somewhere in my loft... one of the first times I ever used Paintshop for photo editing (apart from :cough: tax discs
)...Cheers guys, some good tips, the whole car is getting dipped, I know some of you won't agree, but, I'm loving the idea of a different look, and the worse thing that is going to happen Is, the car will be protected.
Im going to repair bits that are needed first of course.
Watch this space!

Aye mate..I think its going to blow wrapping out the water...When i saw it last year it was only available in two primary colours and was a matt finish...A year later there are a multitude of colours and finishes..Its even friendly to skin..(Just an idea for a Wedge calendar shoot with girls)....
