Maybe it won't be too hard to retrofit

Hi Mate..Does the wiper side have a flick down for a single sweep of the wiper or a click down for intermittent?..Also whats broken about it?...
The TR7 is opposite to this..Its an SD1..Do you have the light switch on the steering cowl...If so..

The parts are held together via two or three screws to a plate...Is yours like this?..

Just realised you have a 280i..Could be TR7..They are interchangeable though..The indicator was on the opposite side in my 280i.

Wow thanks guys. I will take the plastic cowl off now and take a picture on the mounting. The wiper stalk has shredded its splines so spins around. There looks to have been a previous attempt to glue it but this has failed. I will get some more pics now.

Column stalks from an early miniMetro (I have the same and recognised them from my first car!)

The switches are all from the same Lucas range, there are slight variations in the wiper functions as you say. The SD1 column is obvious as it has the lights switch on the lower LHS. What differentiates between most of the donor cars is the bit of pressed tin to which the switches are moounted - it tilts them at different angles depending on the column shrouds. The TR7 stalks also have more of a prominent angle towards the driver than most of the others.
Essentially if you are patient you can use most of them to repair any of the others, the internals are the same.
