Have you done a Wedge body-off? I am interested in how many man-hours it takes to get to the 'lift off' stage? If you used any special equipment, such as a body lift dolly, please mention that too...

I know one is going off tomorrow, then there was Matt recently, possibly Martin, any others?

I'm thinking for some jobs, like the rear brakes, if it's not too many hours why not lift it, then you can look after the chassis too at the same time.

I'll give you my view if you like. You've all followed my progress

Bolts took a full day and a half, most rusted solid so my friendly hacksaw was needed on a few of them. The 2 right at the front were a total bd!

Draining the tanks an evenings work

Disconnecting the engine wires and hoses again an evenings work

Then I guess a full day tommorow for the lift

So as long as your in no rush and take your time its fine

I've been lucky to land on a very special piece of kit, a bespoke body off dolly. But my car is already 2 foot off the chassis and all I've used so far is a scissor jack (yes seriously) and some bricks.

You therefore could just use as I have a jack and blocks, and then to hold it above the chassis some tall axle stands and scaffold pole or perhaps some cable drum jacks (adjustable which helps loads) or a gantry to hoist the whole body off in one

Time for more wine :-)

Careful, you might want a clear head tomorrow. More Old Rosie cider for me. Wife's family down for weekend so might get messy!

Well the 2nd bottle is already empty. The wifey has given me a weekend pass so I'm good for a sleep in and hours in the garage.

Steve (Guest) if your reading this, the wife was flattered at your advances to persude her along to the next tvrcc meet but she's more hand bags vs hand brakes. Nice try though lol

I'll have to keep a note of this thread. I plan to take mine off either next winter or the one after.

Already making moves to get a pass to store the body in the front garden whilst the chassis etc is refurbished in the garage! Although my dear wife was worried that someone might walk off with it!!!!

Is there a standard way people store the body without resting it on the ground? Does it sit on timber behind the front wheel arch and in front of the rear for instance?
