Well my 350i went in for it's MOT yesterday. It's the first MOT it's had since I bought it and I expected that there would be some things to deal with because my MOT station is quite fastidious.

However, there wasn't much. Handbrake (which I new needed adjusting), wiper (which is missing it's spring), Slight power steering pipe leak, headlight not adjusted correctly and an exhaust leak......strangely I couldn't tell it was leaking!!!! Too much noise!!

Having looked at the exhaust it has clearly been welded before so I've decided to replace the lot. No point in doing half a job. I don't know if there's even an option of mild steel but I would go for a stainless steel one anyway. I see that ACT can build a Wedge exhaust and wondered if anyone had tried their exhaust and if so what is it like?

Are there any other places people recommend for getting hold of a Wedge exhaust?

Cheers

I had ACT stainless steel manifolds - very good quality and fit. The rest of the exhaust I had made up by Custom Chrome in Nuneaton, again highly recommended.

I am sure I have a receipt in the big folder somewhere for a stainless system from RT Racing. I'd give them a shout.

Where abouts are you, you would probably be better just asking for local recommended exhaust fabricators to get one built on the car. You shouldnt really need anyone with 'TVR' in the name to do it, its just pipework.

I recently had an exhaust done by STS in Bedford on the girlfriends Suzuki Cappuccino. It is great quality, good value and a very quick turnaround. Well recommended thumbup

Can you remember how much it cost? ACT want £500+VAT for the exhaust and another £500+ for the manifolds!

With something like an exhaust I'd rather fit and forget and I'm never sure with the breakers..........just cynical really!!

Might have to do a temporary fix to get it through the MOT as ACT (and others, I suspect) quote 10-15 days.

What's the general concensus on acceptable price for a stainless exhaust for a 350i

There's not really an alternative on the manifolds - that's how much they are. I think the rest of the system came to about half that amount though.

The manifolds look good. But I think I'll have to pass on them for the moment. Mine are fine, so there's no justification for spending the extra money.

I'm hoping some of the other guys on here will come up with other suggestions of places they have got Wedge exhausts from though so that I'm not left with a couple of options.

I'm assuming that the tubular manifolds are interchangeable with the cast iron ones.

Very excited!! Ordered my exhaust system today from ACT. Spoke to Tim Lamont there who was very knowledgable and very helpful. They are a bit more expensive than RT Racing but delivery should be comfortably quicker and I'm a bit desperate!!

Tim is a good fellow...Any issues with anything just let him know and he will sort it...Also let him know that you are happy with the exhaust as he doesn't actually see them as they are sent directly from the company who makes them..Im hoping he can make the fest in a social capacity....Ziga

Will do. Certainly it was nice to come across someone who was happy to share information and clearly knew a lot.

.....just hoping he can twist their arm to get the exhaust to me pronto. He's said he had a good relationship with them and would have a word.
