Sh*te, and bad timing too, mate !
What is it with these bl**dy fuelpumps, how hard can it be to get one that works longer then a week ?!
Well to be fair the one on mine is probably the original one so not bad mate...Good job it went when i was only 3 miles from home..Could of happened either on the way to Burghley or on the way home..100 or more miles away!!!...ZigaWhat is it with these bl**dy fuelpumps, how hard can it be to get one that works longer then a week ?!

Didn't see any mention of the fuel pump relay/ fuse/ steering module in there... you sure it's the pump itself?
Hi mate..Sorry forgot to say...The fuses were checked and tested..Didn't have another steering relay but will test the connections in the morning once the car is jacked up and the wheel is off...Just my luck as i had taken the spare out and the jack a week ago....ZigaNot recommending anyone do this in case your car blows up.
I spliced in a pair of wires running to neon bulb holder into the pump supply . Capped when not in use under the dash and a type that cannot be shorted. If I suspect the pump then I pop the neon bulb in and for the hotwire, it should be on all the time when running and lights up. Really is just a quick check and only as good as to where I joined it but it shows that the power is wending it way there, or not.
When mine failed, no priming whine when ignition on (hotwire) and light lit. Had to be low loaded home as well. Not bad for 15+ years in the open. Even found a marigold rubber glove that was used to pack out the clamp so assume it was not original, but then again.....

Hi peeps...Well Chris popped over and brought a spare fuel pump with him...Thanks mate, I owe you a months worth of breakfast's....Checked the fuel filter..Clear..Voltage at the pump...Good spark..But nothing when cranking..After a considerable amount of cranking the fuel hose was removed from the inlet to the fuel reg but it was dry as...I think its definitely the pump..Now then a little while back i had the fuel hose replaced from tank to swirl pot...From swirl pot to pump..Trouble is reinforced hose has been used so we couldn't clamp it off..And was not even going to attempt trying to bung it with a full tank of fuel...Can anyone recommend a good clamp that would clamp off 15mm reinforced hose...Cheers...Ziga
Found these...Do you they should be good enough...

I have some that are like a U with a flat bottom. One leg is threaded and it pulls onto a flat plate with a knurled knob ( oh er missis). Beauty is you can let off the knob by a few turns to let some fuel out then tighten back up if you are draining, one handed. Not at home at the moment to check the make.
Edit. Like this but not from Frost. Got mine from the local factors, might be draper?

Edit 2. My set has three or four of varying sizes.

Bad luck OP. Best laid plans and all that.
Seeing the FFS I wrongly assumed FUEL FILTER SYNDROME. A condition well known to petrol Rover 75 and MG ZT owners. Some BMW owners too which share the same in-tank BMW Fuel Filter. In the OP's this case it was fuel supply problems.
In the case of the larger MG and Rovers models resulting from the brief period under BMW stewardship, there's a relatively simple Fuel Filter Separation ( FFS again ) fix and permanent cure. A plastic clip know 'affectionally' as the FOC ( Fabled Orange Clip ).
Used the FOC on an MG ZT 1.8t only last week which refused to start as limited fuel pressure at the injectors. Realigned the two parts of the in-tank FF, fitted the Orange Clip to stop any chance of future separation and car started immediately once all back together.

Hey zig-have you got a filter before the pump? The one in the swirl pot will have collapsed and crud from the tank is getting through.
Hi Matt...There is only a filter after the pump..Which when we emptied it was crystal clear from both ends...I think the pump has just given up as there were some little hiccups a while back..There were times when there was an intermittent stall, Usually after around an hour of driving...It went away...When i had an adjustable FPR fitted which had a gauge the pressure was really erratic..Set to 38 psi..(WOT) and the next day its up at 48 psi..Drop it down again to 38 and again it will drop to 28 psi...Occaisionally for a couple of days it would hold the pressure...Then two days before the pump failed there was a very small miss when giving it beans..Fill up on the way home and then she stops...Are there any recommendations for a pump pre-filter...Cheers...ZigaThanks to everyone for their help...I have ordered one of these..
