At last - I have a 350i FHC! So my 280i FHC is for sale.

(it's on eBay)

I managed to loose a few bits on the drive home, such as a near side louvre - and there were other 'falling off bits' noises too. I also have a funny problem with the coolant while cruising at 70mph, every 25 seconds the coolant temperature gradually rises from 80 to 100 then drops right back to 80 again in about 2 seconds - it did this every time I looked at the gauge over a three hour journey. Anyone had this before? I am told it may be an air lock - but have as yet to try the bible refil method. (I like the LED idea for the fan Steve, if you read this)

Yeah, I get something similar from time to time with the 390.

Don't forget that whilst an LED may tell you that the power is on for the fan, the fan is not necessarily turning...

Jim, was that the 350FHC that was on ebay? Looked quite tempting for the price as a step up from the 280.

Hi 280bod,

Yep, bought her off eBay - sight unseen!

I discovered I needed to add 3 litres of coolant today, as the reservoir was empty. This I duly did. Now the fan cuts in at an indicated 95, going off a little under 90 whem idling, as most cars should. However the heater box is only blowing luke warm air out, and There does not appear to be a Heater control valve outside the heater box - anyone know if the heater box must be disassembled to gain access?
The P.O. installed a coolant temperature sensor in the feed to the matrix - and it registers a measly 50, so I know the flow must be restricted - any ideas ? no mention of this in the bible...

I think they all do that sir. At least mine does and I've flushed it through to check for a blockage and checked for an air lock

Mine has a separate valve in the engine bay to completely shut off in the summer months

Well, so far, so good. Not many things fell off on the drive home, and I was very surprised to get better fuel economy out of a V8 than my trusty V6 how did THAT happen ?

Jim,
Guess you don't need the A frame 350 chassis now then?

Maybe the bits that fell off reduced the weight somewhat!!!!

Hi Tas,

I'm Still interested in the chassis - any idea on timescales? no real rush just want to know when to clear out some space.

I could do with a Nearside FHC louvre in RED since one fell off on the M6 last saturday, at ahem the national speed limit of course...

Anyone still got a spare one (as mine fell off too).
