Steering clunk

Just had a call from Offords.
I thought i had a worn ball joint, BUT
having looked at the steering they tell me it's the bolt that goes through the wishbone and chassis, it's very worn. They think it may have elongated the hole in which it passes, but won't be sure until it's removed.
Has anyone else had a similar issue or am i just lucky?
