Did a bit more chassis cleaning today getting ready for painting with epoxy on Monday and had a poke under the built in rubber crap trap and the scraper went straight through the outrigger yikesweeping

Bad news body is coming off as most of the powder coat is flaking off so time to strip and do the job properly, the good news I won't have shift any more RT racing chassis protection st !

So repair blast and powder coat or repair blast and epoxy paint ???

I'd vote for paint, at least you can touch it up if needs be.

I think I read somewhere that epoxies are used on undersea installations; if they're good enough for the bottom of the sea... wink
I've never been impressed with TVR's chassis finishes: some say the Wedges are 'plastic' (i.e. powder) coated and some may be, but the way rust bubbles through on my car seems more reminiscent of the way it lifts regular paint.
A 280i that I repaired in 2005 had a grey epoxy chassis and even that was as rough as a badger's nadgers, see here...

In 2001 I replaced my 390's rear sill plates and when I took the offside sill off after 12 years there was no sight of rust reappearing, and all I did was paint the bare steel with Smoothrite and then underseal.

As said above.. Paint, or rather Hammerite/Smoothrite. Used on 2 chassis I stripped and rust proofed in the past. Finished off with Wax oil on the outriggers & water trap areas.

I had bought some of this to repaint the engine bay with, as you say suitable for boats and off shore stuff.

non rust clicky

The RT rust treatment is a complete bd to get off so whatever I do the chassis will be getting bead blasted first, but if I go for painting I can repair any hidden rust that appears during blasting. Powder coat option means it has to fixed before being blasted as I have to pay for someone to move the chassis.

Other option is PoR15, still on the racer even after going though a few gravel traps.
