Ignition Amplifier?

As was suggested on an earlier thread about some intermittent bad running it seems the suggestion of ignition amp may be worth looking into so had a quick look on mine and the only number I can see on it is 804288 4896 but when I google this number I get nothing.

Is this the correct part number and which manufacturer is the best to replace it with and best source?? Car is a 1989 400SE.

you need to check the version of your ignition distributor. fairly sure its a 35dlm8 limb. Those have the amplifier to the side of them as a little black box Lucas DAB118.

From my flapper - my original says on the side 9 EM Ignition Module - it was Lucas 84453.

Ebay search Range Rover classic 3.5 or 3.9 ignition module. Both 2 pin and 3 pin available.

Thanks for the replies. Just took it off and it does say 9EM on the side.

It is attached to the side of the distrubutor so does that make it the 35dlm8?? Where does it state the number on the distributor??

There should be a sticker or engraving on it

Its not immediately visible unless it is sneakily hidden between the dizzy and the block where I can't see, get a mirror or camera !!! It does have Lucas England on it but that is as much as I can get to.

Edit - It is a 3 pin version also.

I've never seen a sticker like that on any of mine - I think they will be long gone by now - shrivelled up and flaked off.
