Check out Abbey Sportscars Ltd (www.v6tuner.co.uk) The part no taken from my clutch was Borg and Beck no 53823. Consider replacing the fork at the same time.
The gearbox can be pulled from the engine, splitting the casing in situ so it can be turned, not pulled apart that gives you enough room to remove and replace the clutch.

Is it slipping? As the original setup takes time for the clutch to fully engage. Feels like slip....
Myself normally wait for the clutch to be fully engaged before putting the foot fully to the floor.

Yeah best to try it in 4th or 5th if the revs rise too quickly it's slipping.

Usually it's caused by the pressure plate springs getting tired.

Usually? IMHO only occasionally; it's more usual that the friction plate is fked by too many hard launches...

Incidentally Colin, you're not related to a David or Phil of the same surname in Teesside are you?

The clutch in my 400 was still ok and not slipping when I took the engine out recently but changed it as a matter of course (and the plates were quite worn).

Anyhow, I dont know what the previous one was but I always had to be sure it was fully engaged before getting back on the power. If you did a quick shift between 4th to 5th then it would always slip a little.

I replaced it with an uprated one (nothing too serious) but I had mine replated and new springs etc and its brilliant! Still nice and light on the pedal, doesn't judder (which was my worry with upgrading) and you can do quick changes with no slip smile

I got it done at Orca clutches in bordon, hants. Google them... what they dont know about clutches isnt worth knowing!

I had the same thing in the maserati as when the turbos spun up before it would slip slightly and now nothing, just full throttle driving

It is possible without taking it off.
Standard Rover SD1 Vitesse should be ok, but...
Uprated and many other versions are available.
Think if it is standard you need the smaller diameter 9.5 and not the 10.0... or something like that.

Yes the bigger one is 10.5" diameter. There are some absolute bargins on the flea at the moment e.g. item number 400683563923 which is a 10.5" 23-spline AP racing.

However yours is likely a 9.5". While it is possible to have the flywheel changed to a 10.5" and they are alleged to fit under the bellhousing I would say it's a hassle not worth the engineering on a 350i.

Just make sure you don't get a "National" brand friction plate as I found them unreliable. AP racing would be preferable but you need to find a 9.5" one (probably).

This one looks promising: fleabay item 221451813384.
