Anyone got a spare, as I broke one doing the LED mod.
Also took a lot longer than expected as had a resistor breaking down.

Some pic's of Results.

Would it not work just as well if you retained the original fibres and replaced the filament lamp with a super-bright LED?

As posted before,

Mice ate all the fibre optic cabling, so was go LED's in the switches, or find a replacement fibre-optic setup

My old fibre optics were really bad and had gone opaque.

The LEDs I have are 3mm ones with tails..

They fit nicely in the plastic fibre optic holders behind the switch, and with a but of superglue to fasten, really do make a difference over the originals

Issue I've got is that the switches and minor gauges are all beautifully lit up. The speedo and tacho however are so dark I can hardly see them at night. I've checked the bulbs and dimmer switch and all is fine with bulbs appearing quite bright when they are out of the instruments but as each gauge only has the one bulb there just doesn't seem to be enough light to be of use. Are brighter standard bulbs available?

I keep a mini-torch in the car because I can't see fuel or temp at night (hopefully will be sorting this when the dash comes out later this week)

This is something I am currently investigating too. As you will beable to see from previous threads, Ive changed all my center panel switch illumination with LED's, and replaced the existing small clocks bulbs with new (my thinking being the bulbs have been doing their job for the last 22 years, so new ones are bound to be brighter)

I have the same problem with just my rev counter I tried angling a Green LED to nearer the front etc but still no joy. I just accept thats the way it is. Wiring up the switches is easy with the LEDs something I plan to do when my set arrive. Just take a live and earth feed off the switch, create a mini wiring junction and then wire up each LED to each switch...will post some pics when I get round to doing that.

I re-wired all gauge lights to run with their own feed so no problems there - my Earth goes straight to the Batt Neg via a junction...

Found an earlier thread from Oz2 and he used 10mm green LED's which looks simple enough so now ordered a packed of them. Will let you know how it goes.

Interested to see how it does go. I was looking at a solution that did not mean having to remove the clocks from the car (changing the bulbs is going to be my first port of call).

Although i don't use the Wedge much at night i have still been flashed by a speed camera cos i couldn't see the speedo at all...Its just a faint blur, I had my eyes tested and its still a faint blur...Anyway i was going to see if i can get to the bulb in the gauge by removing the steering wheel and contorting like a snail...Rather than removing the dash....I meant to do it before i fitted the seats..banghead

If you remove the radio, you maybe able to reach the bulb via that opening.
