I usually put my foot on the standard wheelbrace so I think about 60-80lbf? I have known garages do them up tighter so I don't think it's a problem.

Never had them come loose in 15+ years and just use the foot method for final tighten, no torque wrenches!

According to the hand book 40lb/ft 54Nm seems a bit low but that's what Im using and had no problems over the last 3yrs

Delilah 's rear nearside hub nut was just threads from dropping off today, little cows wheel was looser than a loose sloppy thing!
Wheel nuts I just like FT.

If it's anything to go by, the mk2 Granada wheelnuts are 85Nm biggrin
Always done mine to 90Nm and never had any problems with wayward nuts redface
