Look interesting mate...If the hose was smooth bore it would flow better but that would probably need steel connectors which heat up so defeats the object...You could wrap the hose in some lagging to keep heat off from the engine..Especially when coming to idle when your out and about hooning..Just a thought...When you first posted up i thought this mod was to bring the engine bay temperatures down but obviously i must of read it wrong...Cooling the intake air is always a plus...Do the louvres open when it sucks?....Ziga

Hi mate the induction tube is rated for 325 degrees and after lifting the bonnet once home the pipe wasn't really hot to touch !! The louvres are fixed so don't move plus I have placed them in the same direction as the wheels rotation so rain can't enter if caught out in a shower ! Plus it has a stainless steel mesh inside so no worries about any particles entering the vent !

Sounds good...I bet you can hear it.."A drone followed by a whine and off at speed the charged beast travels"...You obviously have an air filter but maybe the mesh could be a bit finer...I have some air filter foam if you want a piece...I can mail it to you...Its as light as...Well foam...biggrin
You just need a valve rigged up to a refrigerant for that super cool rush on a hot day...Even engines need to quench their thirst....lick
Or even better...Give it some NOS....yikes

You sure about water ingress? It can get mighty damp under the arches.

Hi Jeff I do have a solution if water does appear to be a problem ! I spoke to Warren at Topcats Racing about the ingress of water if I do get caught out in a shower and will follow their lead in the conversions they have completed !

Hi mate...Its a very good mod mate but looking at it i think i would of had the air filter closer to source...
I know a little bit about air flow...Basically the air filter is essentially a restriction as it is interfering with the free flow of air that is being called for by the engine.

The air supply obviously needs to be filtered...Perhaps this wouldn't matter in a NA engined car so much due to the relatively low volume of induction required albeit comparatively higher the more cylinders.

However when an engine is supercharged the force's are sufficiently higher due to the forced induction..Air is being rammed down its throat..

Cold dense air is good for a healthy combustion but don't forget there are water particles in that dense air...Good filtration is key...Now what i see with yours..Lets say if i was doing it to mine...I would of had the air filter closer to the source..The engine is calling for particular volumes of air and fuel..

So as in pic A. The demand for air by the engine is a particular force up to the point of the air filter, Normally there is not much in front of it.

However now there is a section of travel..i:e the air pipe up to it, The air forces are being pulled in at a reduced rate along the pipe from source.

Pic B. Shows the air filter nearer to the source so that there is less air being drawn in at a reduced flow..
I would of done what you have with it going to the side of the wheel arch but maybe of had the air filter closer to source and instead of a vent i would of had a mesh housing with some filter foam so that no droplets of water are sucked in....

Good stuff though mate...Cheers...Ziga

Hi Mark Thanks for the comments bud ! But as always in the Wedge engine bay we seem to be restricted for space ! She seems to go ok though !!

I don't think the water will do any harm unless you hydrolock. Which means driving into 2 feet of water.

A small amount from spray will do no harm and be a form of water injection - and cool the charge further.

I will keep it simple and more-or-less original - no Jumbo plenum for me - just got to get down to Linton and pick up that mould!
