^ This. Despite all the modern bolt on stuff it's fundamentally an oooooold engine which really needs a 20/50 equivalent.

Thanks.

What about the filter, where's the best place to get one of them?

I'm using this right now. Noticeably smoother than the runny water that was used previously.

It's on offer right now wink

Wilco do 20w/50 oil at around £10 I believe. I always top it up with STP oil treatment to improve quality and viscosity no matter which make of oil I use.

Euro Car Parts do the Valvoline oil now and of course filters - just make sure you get a good brand as they usually go for the cheapest by default.

Boats use the FRAM filters on something or other and I get them from chandlers as they are quite cheap - compared to car outlets.

So I went though http://www.chandleryworld.co.uk which kicked up an alternative - Mann W240/24. Although on ebay they think the W240/1 is the right one - confusing! Anyone used the Mann ones? See ebay item 310853068401.
