Hi just bought my first wedge. Always wanted an early s1 fhc since I had a ride in a brand new one 34 years ago. Looked at a few over the years but could never find a good one when looking for a new toy. Anyway I have just bought chassis number 1 unseen from North Wales. I am in Bedford. It is a bit of a project and not been on the road for a couple of years. It seems to run ok and everything seems to work but needs some tidying. I will probably have lots of questions in the coming months but looking at the forum you seem like a helpful, knowledgable, and friendly bunch. The journey to wedgedom begins, Richard.

What a fantastic entry into Wedges..You have a very rare car..No.1...And probably sought after.

Me and a friend rescued No.2 from a garden where it had sat for over ten years, Its now been passed on to a restorer who will bring back to as near condition as is possible.....If its done by next years Wedgefest then you have to bring it and get it signed by the man who designed it....Welcome to the madhouse....Ziga

Thanks for the welcome. I am 350 miles away in Scotland at the moment. I only had time to unload from transporter, a quick look and put in garage. Does anyone know much of the history of these early cars. I have read that my car was a demonstrator with Chequered flag garage in London. It is chassis number 1 but not registered until early 1982. Looking forward to getting home and having a good look at what I have bought. Richard.

Sounds like you have a historic wedge there Richard - is the plan to keep it original?

Yes looking to keep standard. But first I have to find what standard is. I have read somewhere about another early demonstrator that was kept by the factory and sold on a couple of years later. This car was updated with later parts before being sold. I would like to find out if my car had the same treatment as it is fitted with later cross spoke wheels and a later steering wheel. So do I put it back to how it was built in 1979 or how it maybe left the factory in 1982 ?
