Hi all

Need your help on something . Probably been on here before but just want to confirm.1989 350i rear brake calipers. Am I right in saying Jag XJ6. Where is the best place to get pistons for calipers as I need to refurbish mine. Have seen the seals on the bay but not pistons. Had a seized caliper few months back, lots of smoke and no pedal. Took out pads and freed up pistons, put in new pads. Seen some pics on here of rusty pistons so for piece of mind have decided to change them in case it happens again.

Many Thanks

Steve

Try ward engineering for all the parts you need. They are jag specialists.

Yes that's what I've heard but I'm no jag expert.

There are some on the flea right now item number 141239346966 but as the seller says:

These pistons changed during the Series 2 production (About 1972-73).
These are the early Flat Top type pistons where there's No Metal Ring round the dust boot and the dust boot is a bellows shape on this early type.

So I guess our are the later type?

Thanks guys will ring up both companies for availability and price. I did see those pistons on the bay Adam but like yourself realised they are probably the wrong ones. Never had rear calipers off before, but have read that you need patience, lots of cups of tea and your favourite music on the radio ha ha.

Thanks

Steve

Can I just point out that this is another one of those threads which contains really useful info which should be located on a central page.

Not meaning to give work to someone else. But I am in a position where I don't know nearly as much as lots of you guys about the cars and I have various jobs coming up which will require this kind of info. If it was all on a central page it would be easier to look at that than it would to post another question.

When someone posts some part numbers and confirms the later type, I'll link it up! ;^)

Ditto. ISTR all the pistons, seals, new pads etc. came to 140; I think someone on here quoted that to have someone else refurb them!
