A small but irritating problem. I like everything perfect!

The interior light on my 400 works when you switch it on permanently, but doesn't work in the courtesy light position, ie: when the doors open.

Am I right in assuming that there will be a permanent + to the light, a permanent earth to allow the light to be switched on, and an earth which goes via the door switches which will switch the light on when the doors are open?

It has been suggested that there might be a broken wire behind the driver's seat, where the hood hinges.

If I am right in my assumptions, does anyone know the colour of the wires?

Cheers.

Check the switches..Push them in with the door open and let it flick out, Sometimes they stick....Check the connection on the backs.

I had an intermittent pin switch on the door, removed the wires and shorted them out and the light came on OK, intermittent through the switch. Changed the switch. Can't remember if the switch will come out the door frame or have to lift the carpet to remove the wires. Think mine has gone wonky again, on all the time.

Yep, grubby contacts on both switches. Cleaned up, now work a treat.

Thanks!

I had a bit of chassis flex on the 350i and could make the interior lights come on under hard cornering when the tyres were warm! ;^)

There is a courtesy light in Wedges ??? hehe

mine has a mind of its own ... usually the spring clips that hold the bulb in arc and donot make a good contact.
Ive given up with the standard festoon bulbs and have new LED ones for the cabin and boot on order
